Why are we all not jumping in a Tesla?

With the impending release of the new Audi R8, which boasts some impressive figures such as 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, costing over 100k and likely to fetch some hefty premiums at initial release the Tesla models have made a very small impact on the market.

But why? The Tesla family sedan boasts the same 0-60 time of the R8 V10. It’s eco-friendly and has an impressive range of 300 miles with an ever increasing number of charging points on longer routes and is significantly cheaper.

Possibly Tesla are ahead of their time. Maybe the general public aren’t ready to take the step to fully electric and hybrids such as the i8 appear to be a more suitable compromise.
